People tell me all the time how they’re waiting for another i(m)bali episode. I never make promises but I know i(m)bali is important to me so I have to gift it to you in a way that honours it. So… the new season of i(m)bali will premiere this month.

Until then, I thought this special audio-only edition would hold you over. I call it a stem of i(m)bali because it’s not quite what you’re used to but it’s an extension of what you love.

This is a conversation between me and a key player in African music: Jah Seed. In true i(m)bali fashion, we discuss his early life and his foray into music. We touch on the importance of ragga and dancehall in his life and how it is sewn into the fabric of African politics and culture. We also talk about how he felt when he was deported from the country he’s called home since the 1990s and he tells me about how he’s managed to evolve over the decades.
