About Me
Helen Herimbi is passionate about uncovering and sharing the various ways in which creative expression creates, reflects and transforms life. The South African has written for print and online as well as presented and produced content for traditional and new media. Helen has sat down with everyone from David Attenborough to D’Banj.
A moderator, MC, panelist and speaker, Helen has also presented a number of web series – like the Miller Music Drop, which boasts episodes that garner over 20 000 views as well as Absolut’s One Source Live series that saw Helen interview the likes of Sho Madjozi and Khuli Chana.
In the past, she has partnered with the likes of BET, Boiler Room x The Fader, KFC and more to use music to highlight the lives of Africans. In 2017, she was chosen as a moderator and a speaker at the annual International Music Imbizo, which was themed: The Digital Future. She has since returned to the Imbizo as the festival’s chief moderator. She also facilitated a 2018 MIDEM panel discussion.
Helen hosted the 2019 Major League Gardens live stream and was a panelist at MTV Base’s first ever Top 10 Hottest MCs: The GOAT Edition. She was also selected as part of The Plug Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in SA Urban Culture 2018.
Helen recognises music’s positively constructive effect on life and as such, is the stream queen of curating fire-flame emoji playlists. Some of these playlists have been commissioned by a global streaming service and others have been commissioned to be played in Motherland Coffee shops across South Africa.
In 2018, Helen founded and currently produces and hosts i(m)bali – an evolving interview series that takes an intimate look at the art of life-changing people.
